8 Efficient Advertising Techniques for Spas?

The key to having a successful spa is using your advertising techniques. While you may have the most amazing and extravagant spa, if no one knows about it, it is not going to get the attention it truly deserves.

While advertising can be time-consuming, and even costly, in most instances, it is such a valuable tool. There are so many techniques you can adopt.

I would recommend advertising as widely as possible to further your spa’s reach. This includes advertising both online and offline.

While advertising online is fantastic, you will want to ensure you are advertising offline and reaching those who may not use social media too.

Here are some techniques that I have used in the past and have proven to be particularly helpful:

Which Advertising Techniques Are Best For My Spa?

1. Use Social Media

When it comes to advertising, social media is one of the best things to use. There is so much potential that comes with social media, and there are many ways it can be managed to significantly grow your business.

This is something I will be covering in more detail in the second half of this article.

2. Paid Advertisement

Paid ads, both online and in things such as magazines, will help to raise awareness of your business. You can use posters, or billboards to help your spa brand reach new people.

You will want the advertisements to be placed locally, and in magazines or websites that are linked to spas and treatments and can target people who would be likely to come and visit your spa.

3. Business Cards

Business cards are an option some people find outdated. I think they are still useful. You can leave business cards in local stores, and you can hand them out to potential clients.

They are easy for people to keep and are less likely to be tossed away in comparison to flyers. However, flyers can be a reasonably good alternative, especially if they contain a special deal or voucher that can be used at your spa.

4. Loyalty Scheme

While loyalty schemes are not direct advertisements, they encourage repeat customers and loyalty.

Given this, if your customer’s family and friends see that the person is receiving a great deal with the loyalty scheme, they will be more likely to try out your business too.

5. Special Events

While special events are an investment, they can be done on a budget to an extent. They are a fantastic way of drawing new clients to your spa, and will help to gain an overall interest.

Customers love to attend events, especially if a glass of prosecco, or snacks are offered. You can utilize the event by offering small discounts on treatments, and advertising the event in advance to gain interest.

6. Up-To-Date Website

Having an up-to-date website is important, as this will allow customers to clearly see the spa treatments you have to offer, and will encourage them to book in.

I would recommend having an easy layout to follow, that is simple to navigate and clearly shows everything you have to offer.

You will also want to include contact details, opening hours, and the location of the spa too.

If you maintain active social media accounts, include widgets that display your latest posts so that potential visitors can get familiar with your brand.

7. Google My Business Account

Google My Business is one of your most powerful online directories. A good Google My Business listing can drastically increase the amount of new clients to your spa business.

It allows potential clients to have immediate access to your opening hours, contact details, and location. Most importantly, happy clients can leave you an honest review using their own words. The more reviews you have – and the higher your rating – the better. It is a great way of advertising your business without having to do all the work yourself.

8. Networking

Networking is vital in any business. Not only is it a great way of building up connections with local businesses, but it will also help to improve the exposure of your business too.

You can organize joint events, or agree to promote each other’s businesses.

I would recommend reaching out to businesses such as nail and hair salons, as it is likely that you are all going to attract a similar clientele. Gyms are also another great business to collaborate with.

How do I market my spa on social media?

Advertising techniques

As I have already touched upon, using social media to market your business is something that everyone should be doing.

The rise of social media cannot be ignored, and nowadays, more people are using it in comparison to those that aren’t.

This is why it is important to set up business pages on as many social media sites and get your name out there. Here are some of the steps I have found work particularly well when using social media to market a spa.

1. Set up Social media pages

The first thing you will need to do is set up social media pages. There are many to choose from, but I would recommend Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and TikTok.

These are by far the most popular sites that can help promote your spa business. In addition to this, YouTube is a great option if you are looking to showcase any treatments.

2. Network

Once your page is set up, you will want to follow similar accounts and local businesses. Networking is a key aspect in marketing your business and getting your business out there to as many people as possible.

Through networking, if a business shares your site on their pages, your own page will gain more traction and can open the path up for new clients.

3. Use Social Media Tools

Each social media site has its own way of attracting users, and you will want to ensure you are putting their features to good use for your own brand. For example, with Facebook, you will want to create longer, written posts.

On Instagram, you will want to make use of IGTV, reels and feed posts.

While it can take a while to get used to the different sites, knowing how they work and utilizing the tools and business insights to check your growth is important.

4. Giveaways

Giveaways are a fantastic way to market your spa. If you hold competitions where a user has to follow and share your page, this will increase your engagement and promote your business to a wider audience.

In addition to this, the winner will get something back out of this too.

5. Sharing the business location

Always ensure that you are sharing your business location, contact details and phone number. This allows people to contact you and know where they can find your spa.

6. Being active and posting consistently

While it can be tough to keep up with social media, you will want to try to have a schedule, whether it is every day, or a few times a week.

The more often you post, the more likely people will be to engage and follow your content. However, the quality of your content is more important than the quantity, so try to put thought into how you present your spa, your team and your entire brand online.

7. Engaging with clients

I would finally recommend always engaging with clients and followers. If you are friendly and approachable and answer any questions, people will appreciate it.

They will be more likely to book in and use your spa if your business is friendly and approachable.

I hope these tips have helped you find new ways of promoting and marketing your spa. As you can see, these are fairly easy to implement, and marketing doesn’t always have to be expensive to work!
